Diseased Horse Chestnuts have shedded their tonnage of leaves along the college front, and so the leafing season begins. After a wet summer we were counting on the clear light of sunny September days, but once again we have been short changed. The month ends with cold winds and a lomesome old crow swaggering with crooked gait and half closed wing. However, this being a late summer garden we at least have our bold displays of Dahlias, Salvias, Asters, Sunflowers and Tithonias to brighten our not so gradual slide into autumn.
